"Thoughts About Gay Marriage"

Much anger by Jason Heath-Fitzgerald:

Before I start this blog, I want to say this: I woke in an extremely bad mood this morning. Typically I keep my off color days to myself, minding my words and actions; just because I'm having a bad day doesn't mean I should bring others down.

But not today.

So, be warned, this is not my typical blog, it's is written with anger and the 'F' word. By 'F' word, I don't mean fag.

My opinion about gay marriage is very strong. So strong in fact that often my husband and I disagree. I have found that quite a few folks disagree with me and, frankly, I don't understand why.

Matthew and I were watching a television show last night from LOGO tv called 'Wisecrack on Tour.' Some of you may be familiar, some may not. It showcases gay comedians, onstage and off.

While watching the program, Andre Kelley, spoke about gay marriage during his stand-up routine. What he said voiced my feelings about gay marriage perfectly.

Here is Andre's quote from the show:

"I am 100% against civil unions and domestic partnerships. I do not want second best, I do not want substitutes. I do not want hollow sloganeering from so-called gay conservatives. I want the real thing. I want 100% pure immutable, legal gay marriage."

That says everything about gay marriage I would like to express, except for one thing.

I want to be married legally in the United States governments eyes. I don't give one fuck about any of your churches. I don't give a fuck if your church wants gay marriage or not. Don't bring your church into this. Your church and your religion isn't the only fucking church and religion on this fucking planet.

I don't care if your church hates gays, likes gays, lets gays get married or doesn't. What your church believes is their own fucking prerogative, this is a free fucking country. BUT this is also a country that is suppose have separation of church and state.

I DON'T WANT TO BE MARRIED IN YOUR CHURCH. Furthermore, I don't understand why so many gay people want to be included in churches and religions that hate them.

The next fucking person that comes up to me and says 'Civil unions are just as good as marriage,' I'm going to bitch slap into next year. Fuck you . I don't want 'just as good as' I want the real fucking thing, I deserve it more than most heterosexual people who marry and divorce like they are taking a shit.

So, to those who understand, thanks for reading, to those who don't - go fuck yourselves for thinking that gay people like myself are second class citizens

It's all or nothing in my mind.
